The Little House on the Prairie Cookbook

3 reviews

With this visually stunning cookbook, you can learn how to make classic frontier dishes like corn dodgers, mincemeat pie, cracklings, and pulled molasses candy in your own modern kitchen.

The book also includes excerpts from the beloved Little House on the Prairie series, fascinating and thoroughly researched historical context, and details about the cooking methods that pioneers like Ma Ingalls used, as well as illustrations by beloved artist Garth Williams and full-color photographs by Kathryn Elsesser. Food and prop styling by Ellen Jackson.

This is a chance to dive into the world of Laura Ingalls Wilder, American pioneer, women's club member, and farm homesteader.

This book has been widely praised and is the winner of the Western Heritage Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. The Horn Book praised it as "a culinary and literary feast."

I recommend this product

I got this as a birthday gift for my daughter and she loves it! It has some color photos of the recipes as well as passages and illustrations from the books. A must have for any Little House fan.

I won Christmas

My sisters and I grew up on the Little House series. I got my oldest sister, also an adventurous eater, this cookbook for Christmas. She loved it and couldn’t wait to start trying some of the more interesting recipes.

This is so cool

I’m probably way too lazy to try many of the recipes in this book but as a lifelong fan of the Little House books and always loving the food descriptions, I was so excited to get and look through this book (but does it go in the Little House section or the cookbooks?).

Here to make gift-giving fun is a gift shop for people of a certain charm. We evoke giggles and private jokes. Sometimes we say bad words. We crush hard on the 80’s, 90’s and 00's.
